Afghanistan’s 15 man squad for ICC World Cup 2022 was announced by Afghanistan Cricket Board on Monday. The board sticked to their deicison of continuing with Gulbadin Naib as the captain for the World Cup.
The 31 year’s old fast bowler Hamid Hassan has been included in this squad. Hassan didn’t play any ODI matches since 2016 and is going throught several injuries, so his inclusion into this squad look sligtly surprising.
Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Noor Ali Zadran and Hazratullah Zazai are the excellent batters in Afghanistan team at the top order and the team will back on these players to give a good batting start. Afghanistan have two choice as opener with Mohammad Shahzad; Noor Ali Zadran and Hazratullah Zazai. Hazratullah Zazai seems to have an edge over Noor Ali Zadran.
Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran also makes Afghanistan batting line up very strong. These 4 batsmen can stablize the innings in the middle order.
Ikram Ali Khil, Karim Janat and Sayed Shirzad are into the Afghanistan’s squad as the specialist batsmen. Ikram Ali Khil is also the 2nd wicket keeping option.
Apart from Hamid Hassan; Dawlat Zadran and Aftab Alam are the two main paces in Afghanistan side for World Cup 2019. Captain Gulbadin Naib will play the role of seaming allrounder into the team.
Top class spinners Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi are ready to threaten the oppositon batsmen with their spin bowling. Shinwari and Rahmat Shah can also deliver good with some part time spin bowling.
