In IPL 2022 a total of 10 teams will participate and Lucknow based team is one of the two new teams that will be part of IPL 2022. This team was named Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow Super Giants was purchased by RPSG Group (RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group) at a huge price of Rs. 7090 Cr. Sanjiv Goenka is the owner of this group. They put a big bid for purchasing this new team and with this sum of money, it is the most costly team of IPL.
The team got its name as Lucknow Super Giants on 24 Jan 2022. The RPSG Group also started a social media campaign to suggest the name for this new IPL team. While announcing the name of this name team, Mr. Sanjiv Goenka said, he is very happy with the response that the franchise got from the supporters, and based on their suggestions we have given the name ‘Lucknow Super Giants’ to the team. Goenka group earlier also purchased a Pune-based IPL team which played in the 2016 and 2017 seasons of IPL.

KL Rahul who is performing very well for India in various formats has been given the responsibility to lead Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. KL Rahul was the captain of Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. Rahul is a very talented player and there is no doubt on his leadership abilities. The team management believes that Lucknow Super Giants will be in safe hands under the captaincy of KL Rahul.
The team purchased KL Rahul at a whopping price of Rs. 17 Cr. Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi are the other two players that were added to the Lucknow Super Giants squad before the mega auction. These two players were purchased at a price of Rs. 9.2 Cr and Rs. 4 Cr.

Lucknow Super Giants team Coach
Former Indian cricket team player Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the Mentor of Lucknow Super Giants. He was also part of the Indian World Cup-winning team in 2011 and KKR won the IPL twice under his captaincy. He is a great batsman of all time and Lucknow Super Giants will really benefit from his services as a mentor.
Andy Flower who was one of the star batsmen and most popular player for Zimbabwe will be the batting coach of Lucknow Super Giants.

Lucknow Super Giants team Home ground
BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium also Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium will be the home ground for the Lucknow Super Giants team. This stadium was built in the year 2017 and has a seating capacity of 50000. The first international match was played at this stadium on 06 Nov 2018 between India vs West Indies. The stadium will now host the IPL matches for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 season.
